About me
Robert (Bob) Dunkle helps start and develop companies in life science and informatics. As an adjunct to this work he supports startup programs of Astia, academia and NIH/NSF. His association with Astia began 2006 as an advisor to the Life Science Program Committee and since then he has been a member of Astia’s screening committees as well as coaching and mentoring Astia companies.
Bob has more than 20 years’ experience leading business growth in life sciences including therapeutics, diagnostics, gene expression analysis platforms, disease management, informatics, imaging and process monitoring and control. He has raised over $35M in venture capital, served as CEO of three life science companies and as VP/GM at the world’s largest cheminformatics company helped achieve an IPO followed by a buy-out. As a principal player, he has turned three businesses from perennial losses to sustained profitability. Most recently in his company development business, he has served as COO, CBO and BOD member in numerous companies as well as a mentor or EIR for QB3, UC (SF, Berkeley, Santa Cruz, Davis) and a member of the advisory board in computer science at SFSU.
